Trust Cellars 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley

I wish more Washington producers made wine in the style of the Trust Cellars 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley (13.8%). In the glass, this 80% cab and 20% merlot blend was a deep dark red providing black fruit perfume followed by spice, pepper and then earth. In the mouth, the Trust offered bright black cherry fruit flavors with good acidity and a nice long, captivating finish. We paired this delicious wine with a meal straight out of last month's Saveur magazine, grilled lamb chops with mint salsa verde. Our rack of lamb was seasoned with Kosher salt, pepper and...

Trust Cellars 2007 Syrah Walla Walla Valley

In the glass, the Trust Cellars 2007 Syrah Walla Walla Valley (14.4%) is a deep, dark purple with reddish tint on the edges. Blackberry and cherry fruit notes are combined with a rich earthiness to the nose. This Walla Walla Valley syrah is a well balanced wine offering black fruit flavors and food-friendly acidity. I was pleased that the fruit was not over-ripe nor was the oak overplayed. There was a bit of tannin coming off of the small amount of cabernet sauvignon (11%) blended into this wine. Even still, this gave the wine a good structure. I think...

Trust Cellars 2008 Rosé of Cabernet Franc Columbia Valley

In the glass, the Trust 2008 Rosé of Cabernet Franc Columbia Valley (13.4%) is a light salmon red color, delivering black fruit notes to the nose with a hint of earthiness as well. Blackberry and currant flavors were balanced with good acidity and a very slight sweetness on the finish. We paired the Trust rosé with grilled teriyaki pork chops, asparagus and steamed rice. At $16, the Trust Cellars rose offers a good price-to-quality ratio. I was pleased this Washington rosé was light, crisp, and bright, the kind of rosé we enjoy drinking in the summertime. When that bottle you've been saving breaks

After doing some wine shopping this morning, I was down in the cellar loading up a rack when suddenly a bottle leapt from one of the shelves. Before I could react, I watched as a long brown bottle of Trust Cellars 2006 Riesling fell to the floor, shattering with a horrifying sound of breaking glass. For over a decade of collecting and storing wine, I have yet to drop a bottle or have one fall off a shelf in my cellar. My first reaction was to look at the label to see what I had lost, a Trust riesling, another...

Trust Cellars 2006 Riesling

What I Drank With Dinner (WIDWD) Last night, Kari and I enjoyed a wonderful bottle of Trust Cellars 2006 Riesling Columbia Valley with a spicy Korean style barbecue dinner. What a terrific wine to pair with our meal. It even went well with the apple crisp dessert Kari and my daughters made that same day with fresh Washington state Honey Crisp apples. In fact, if it weren't for having to put our daughters to bed, we would have sat at the table and enjoyed the entire bottle. On the eyes, the Trust riesling was a clear, light golden yellow....

Review: Trust Cellars

While in Walla Walla over the Fourth of July, my father-in-law, Bob, a.k.a. Pappa Rosso, suggested I check out Trust Cellars. Then Catie, the Walla Walla Wine Woman, urged me to stop by as well. As a result, it quickly moved to the top of my list of wineries to see during that weekend. The Trust Cellars winery and tasting room is just a short drive south from downtown Walla Walla. It is located in a small building situated on the outskirts of a sizable vineyard. Trust shares its tasting room with Chateau Rollat, another start up winery, which...
