Evesham Wood 2009 Blanc du Puits Sec Eola-Amity Hills

The Evesham Wood 2009 Blanc du Puits Sec (12.5%) is delicious Alsatian-style wine, blending 90% Pinot gris and 20% Gewürztraminer, with small quantities of two other German grapes, Rieslaner and Kerner, included.

In the glass, this Eola-Amity Hills white wine was a light yellow straw color in the glass delivering aromas of pineapple, pear, melon and peach fruit along with hints of spice. The Blanc du Puits Sec offered a light mouthfeel, with a nice balance between fruit, acidity, and residual sugar.

We enjoyed this Evesham Wood with spicy Thai food and also as an aperitif the next evening before dinner. At $15, this wine offers a very good price-to-quality ratio. And I especially like the addition of Gewürzt to Pinot gris, rather on its own.
