Cedergreen Cellars 2008 Chenin Blanc Columbia Valley

cedergreen-chenin-blanc-2008.jpg

The Cedergreen Cellars 2008 Chenin Blanc "old vine" Columbia Valley (13%) was a light yellowish green color in the glass, delivering fresh sliced grapefruit then pineapple tropical fruit notes with wet stone in the background.

In the mouth, this Washington chenin blanc was both viscous and cloying, creating a syrupy texture that was off-putting. Tropical fruits predominate with a bit of sour acidity. It had a sweet finish, that was anything but crisp and clean.

Even at $14, I would pass on another bottle of this wine.
