WillaKenzie 2007 Estate Cuvée Pinot Noir WV

This WillaKenzie pinot noir is a wine that I intend to drink more of in the months ahead. In the glass, it was a clear, ruby red, delivering terrific notes of red berry fruit with a subtle earthiness. Flavors of strawberry and cherry were balanced with good acidity creating a wonderful roundness to this wine.
We paired the WillaKenzie 2007 Estate Cuvée Pinot Noir Willamette Valley (13.8%) with grilled pork chops, seasoned with salt and pepper after marinating over night with a garlic rub. Kari diced a few apples and cooked them down on the stove top, creating a wonderful fruit topping for the chops. We had wild rice and a mixed green salad as well.
This wine offered a delicious accompaniment to our meal. At $24, the WillaKenzie '07 Estate Cuvée delivers and then some. I prefer this vintage much more than the 2006 they crafted, which was just not my style.
Even still, I remain a big fan of WillaKenzie's approach not only with the wines they craft, but also the ways they strive to connect the consumer to the people and places behind their wines. It's unfortunate they have yet to publish winemaker notes on this vintage, but hopefully these will be up soon.

During a visit to the Willakenzie Estate Winery last August, my girlfriend and I had the opportunity to taste the 2006 "Thibaud's Cuvee" ($38), which was, by far, the best of their '06 offerings available to taste that day.
After your review, I'm excited to tasted the '07s, which were not yet available at the time of our visit.
