Seven Dinners, Seven Terrific Wines

Wow, what an amazing run of outstanding wines we've enjoyed at dinner this past week.

Last Wednesday night, we discovered a new favorite in the Lumos 2005 Pinot Noir Five Blocks, a terrific wine that prompted me to head back to the wine store the next day to buy more. I am completely smitten with this wine, not only for what was in the bottle, but also offered beyond it - more on this soon when I post a review. On Thursday, we opened a Seven Hills 2007 Pinot Gris, which does a fantastic job with this variety.

Friday's dinner pairing offered another nice discovery in the Chehalem 2005 3 Vineyard Pinot Noir, an interesting wine that got even better on the second day. Dinner on Saturday night called for another pinot gris, this time the WillaKenzie Estate 2007 Pinot Gris, a wine we will definitely have to get more of soon.

On Sunday, we enjoyed a wine I first tried at Taste Washington, the Cedergreen Cellars 2007 Sauvignon Blanc, which the winemaker, Kevin Cedergreen, poured for me. I really liked this wine and can't wait to try Kevin's other whites, including his riesling and chenin blanc. Monday was a memorable dinner due to the Saviah Cellars 2005 Malbec from grapes grown in the Walla Walla Valley. Like the Lumos, I am completely smitten with the Saviah malbec for reasons I will expound upon soon in an upcoming post.

Tonight, Tuesday, the seventh dinner in a row that we have opened a terrific wine, we enjoyed the Trio Vintners 2007 Riesling from the Lewis Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. This is a wonderful expression of Washington state riesling, a wine that will definitely be added to my list of recommendations, as will the other six wines we enjoyed this past week.

Stay tuned for more on each of these wines soon...
