Newly Discovered Northwest Wine Bloggers
During the last month, I have discovered a number of wine bloggers who are based in the Pacific Northwest. Many of these folks focus exclusively on Washington or Oregon wine, while others extend their writing to cover other regions in the US and rest of world.
In general, I find it much more interesting and insightful to read about the local wine scene from folks who actually live here and experience it firsthand, rather than the multitude of folks who merely blog about how our wines taste and should be scored. Besides their common geography, these local wine bloggers share a common focus on connecting folks to wine in a manner that goes beyond the bottle.
With this in mind, I wanted to highlight some of the newly discovered bloggers, since these folks can add a lot to everyone's understanding and appreciation for Oregon and Washington wine:
Amy Rootvik
JeffDav on Wine
Michael Veseth's Grape Expectations
The Wine Wall
Wine & Food Experiences (Oregon)
I am really excited to have discovered a new Oregon wine blog, Wine & Food Experience, which was started by Candice, a seasoned wine industry ex-pat who now leads tours in Oregon wine country. I especially enjoyed reading Candice's inspiring post about how she got her start in the wine trade and what compelled her to launch a wine tour company.
Overall, it's great to know of another Oregon-based wine blogger, for there remains a dearth of local folks covering the wine scene there. The only other Oregon-based wine blogger I am aware of is Craig Camp of The Wine Camp Blog.
As you may have already noticed, I maintain a blogroll in the right-hand column, which provides links to a growing list of Pacific Northwest wine bloggers. Besides the new folks recently added to this list, it's worth calling out how much I enjoy reading Catie's writings at Through the Walla Walla Grapevine and Margot's posts at Write for Wine. Both have really helped to extend my knowledge and esteem for Washington wine these last six months.
Last but not least, if you know of other Washington- and Oregon-based wine bloggers to include, please leave a comment below.

I uncovered another Washington-based wine blogger, Maggie, who writes at The Wine Offensive. I discovered Maggie after finding a column she wrote for The Seattle Weekly. The article, Local Wines Don't Have to Clobber Your Food, is a great read. She's preaching to the choir on that topic, as I also believe there are far too many local wines out there that drown, rather than complement, food.

Thanks for links to some new to me blogs. But to answer your question, I've been an Oregon-based wine blogger for more than three years. You even link to me on the blogroll on the left. Thanks for that. I don't focus just on Oregon -- there's a world of wine you know. But I do try to give lots on local perspective on local wine and beyond.
